The most famous book on power, complete and offline

Niccolò Machiavelli wrote The Prince in the early 1500s as practical advice for a ruler: how principalities are won, how they are held, and why a leader must sometimes choose between being loved and being feared. It’s short, direct and still debated five centuries later, read by students of politics, history, leadership and human nature alike.

This app contains the complete book, starting with an introduction to Machiavelli’s life in Florence and then every chapter in order. Each chapter in the list shows how many pages it has and roughly how long it takes to read.

Who it’s for

The app is useful for students reading the book for a course, readers interested in strategy and leadership, and anyone who has heard the word “Machiavellian” and wants to see what Machiavelli actually wrote. Because it works offline, you can read it anywhere, including places with poor connectivity.

How to use it

  1. Open the app and tap the introduction, or jump straight to Chapter I.
  2. Read a chapter, then use the reading-time estimate to plan the next one.
  3. Bookmark a passage to return to it, and carry on from where you left off next time.
  4. Browse the quotes section when you want short, memorable lines from the book.
  5. In settings, switch to night mode and adjust the font, text size, page colour and reading direction.

The Prince rewards slow reading. Try one chapter at a time and ask yourself whether its advice would still hold today, and why.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the complete text of The Prince?

Yes. The Prince is a public-domain classic, so the app includes the whole book in English along with an introduction to Machiavelli's life.

What is the quotes section for?

It collects more than 100 short quotes and thoughts from the book, which is handy when you want a quick reminder of an idea without reopening a chapter.

Is it hard to read?

The language is from an older English translation, but the chapters are short and each one shows its estimated reading time. Reading one chapter at a time keeps it manageable.

Does it work without the internet?

Yes. The book and quotes are stored in the app.

Is the app free?

Yes. It's free and supported by ads, with an optional one-time Premium purchase that removes them.

How do I get help or report a problem?

Email [email protected] with the app's name, your phone model and a short description of the problem. We reply within 2 business days.
